The study was to shed light on the eating behaviour regarding daily meals in Jeonju, South Korea. Of the 500 persons questioned, 54 % were men and 46 % women. 52 % were between 20 and 29 years old. Three regular meals were only taken by 46 %. 56 % had no breakfast, 18.2 % no dinner, and 10.4 % no lunch.
About 78 % regarded their food as not salty. 96 % had at least one Korean meal per day. 60 % prepared kimchi and 34.4 % soya sauces and soybean paste at home. About 31 % had two to three meals per month outside of their home. Two thirds of those who are 30 – 39 years old are dependent on having dinner outside of their homes.
The results altogether have shown that the eating behaviour of adults in Korea is to be evaluated as critical. Especially those between 20 and 39 years show an inadequate nutritional behaviour. People over 50 have been found to be most aware of healthy nutrition.
