Part 2: Further secondary effects related to the intake of inulin and oligofructose

Inulin and oligofructose are prebiotic, soluble dietary fibres regulating the intestinal activity and leading to a selective enrichment of bifidobacteria in the intestine. Part 1 dealt with scientifically verified positive effects on intestinal health. It has also been shown that the compounds may improve intestinal calcium absorption.
Part 2 deals with further possible secondary effects studied and evaluated by experimental approach, animal experiments and human intervention studies.
